This guide is created to help those who are actively searching for employment. It contains resources/links for temp agencies, job search sites, categorized job searching, newspaper job postings and resume/cover letter resources.

Welcome to the Job Search Resource Page!

This page was developed for those who are actively searching for job openings in the Twin Cities area. It is designed to give you are starting point to look for open positions by providing links to different job searching sites. Hopefully, this will be a good starting point to help you find a job that is right for you!


How It Works

You will notice there are a couple different tabs on the menu at the top of this page. These tabs help to categorize different links for different interests. By selecting one of the tabs, you will see a page of links that, when clicked on, will bring you to that particular site or area to search for a position. There are also tabs that will help connect you to FREE resources for writing resumes, cover letters, and for interviewing. Below, is a table of contents, which will provide some information regarding what you will find under each tab. This will make it easier for you to find what you are looking for and to direct you to the correct tab. Each of the tab headings are linked to the tab that is described; if you read about a tab you are interested in browsing, just click on the heading in the grey box to continue!

Under this tab, you will find general job search sites that you may or may not have already been aware of. These sites can be used to find many different types of job openings. You will also find links to employment resources (tips for interviewing, creating resumes and cover letters, and much more) provided by each job search page.

Under this tab, you will find a list of temp agencies in the twin cities area and a link to get to those pages. Temp agencies will help match you with different temporary positions in the area with companies they know and trust. Although these may just be temporary positions, it could possibly lead to a permanent position, if they believe you would be beneficial to their company. Regardless, they will be able to help you expedite the job search by matching you with positions that are right for you.

The sites you will find under this tab are sites that are specifically targeted towards different categories or industries. What this means, is the job openings posted on these sites are particular to one type of database or industry.

In addition to the resources that are available under Tab 1: General Job Search, you will find different websites that contain tips and helpful hints on how to create a great resume! You will also be able to find some nice templates, which can be downloaded and edited using Microsoft Word. These are just a select few of the available online resources, but many more are available for use. There are also resources readily available to you at the Library; all you need to do is ask a librarian about how to find these!

This tab will bring you to varies links that have resources that will help you formulate a cover letter. Most employer's look for cover letters along with resumes these days, so it is a good idea to create one for every position you apply to. These links will bring you to different resources with tips on how to make a great cover letter. Also, you can check out some sample cover letters to give you a better idea of what a cover letter should contain.
